It was not a massive event or a significant announcement… it was something more profound: an encounter with those who, day by day, give their lives for the Gospel. What they experienced there not only moved them but also challenged them. They saw with their own eyes how faith continues to ignite hearts and how hope, when shared, becomes a force that transforms lives.
What did they find? What did they learn? They tell it here.
During the trip, U.S. Province’s Youth and Young Adult Committee members got an up-close look at the mission of several Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate in Eagle Pass, San Antonio, and Houston. They heard their stories, saw their joy in sharing with young people, their closeness to the community, and their faithfulness to God’s call. All of this was a reminder of the essential. The Oblate are not just working; they give their lives for love and do it with a contagious passion.
Their enthusiasm in speaking about working with young people was awe-inspiring. For them, young people are not the future but the living present of the Church. And it was beautiful to see how they celebrate each new vocation, each heart that says “yes” to service. Their words and example made the committee members reaffirm a conviction: they want no one to walk alone. They want communities with spaces, groups, and real accompaniment for all, especially for those who need it most.
For this reason, the members of the committee, headed by Luis Herrera and Father Jesse, OMI, as a spiritual father, traveled with the mission to help, learn, ask questions, and listen to the needs of each community to work together and bring young people closer to God.
This Jubilee Year encourages them to renew their commitment: to continue creating support networks where young people and adults find a place to grow, heal, serve, and dream. Because hope is the engine that launches them towards greater things.
One thing was clear to them: for God, there are no borders. What unites them goes beyond languages or cities. In Eagle Pass, San Antonio, Houston, Tijuana, wherever… Christ continues transforming hearts, and they want to be part of that.
This trip was just the beginning of a big adventure.
They keep going, their hearts on fire and their eyes up high.
And yes, they still need your prayers…because this is just beginning.
