Scholarship Program: Delivery of School Kits 2024

Many children in our community live in these conditions:  Mom and Dad work up to 12 hours a day, which pays them only enough to provide minimal sustenance for the household. The children go to school without school supplies, begging their classmates and teachers, worrying more about how they are going to write down what they are being taught rather than actually learning,

Undoubtedly, the lack of school supplies is a very serious problem, and this has been one of the realities that the Oblates have faced in the Tijuana Mission.

In conjunction with the launch of the Scholarship Program in 2018, the need arose to provide as many students as possible with a school supply kit. From that year to date, more than 3,300 kits have been delivered. This year we helped more than 1,000 kids all around our mission.

Each kit costs $20. It includes the following: backpack, notebooks, coloring book, a story, scissors, glue stick and liquid glue, erasers and pencils.

Throughout these six years, we have been able to improve the quality of education in the area, making children finally care about what will truly change our environment: studying.

The biggest challenge to provide this support is the funding, therefore, we thank all those who have made our mission possible. You have given a smile to the students you have supported. Without your help, this would not be possible. Special thanks to:

– Serving Hands International.

– Dalila and the Compassion Group.

To all those who have donated school supplies
