Mrs. Verónica: When my daughter be ready for living life, God can make with me whatever He wants

Mrs. Verónica is a strong 35 years old woman, married, and has an 11-year-old daughter.  Although her life has been full of illnesses, bad times and discomforts, God has given her enough strength to move forward.

From a very young age, she could not continue studying due to economic necessity, leaving behind her dream of being a lawyer. The concerns along with the environment in which she lived caused her to contract diseases such as tuberculosis, hypertension and diabetes, causing kidney failure due to the high intake of medications.

Verónica was taught to look for the best for her family, but her multiple illnesses prevent her from working, since she has to go for hemodialysis every third day to clean her blood. She used to go by car, but a month ago one of her tires blew out, and her resources are not enough to cover that expense.

Her husband, to pay the bills, works 12 hours a night in a factory far from home. Although he earns an average salary in Mexico, the hospital and medical expenses do not allow him to make repairs to his home or car, alone. They have enough for what is necessary.

A few years ago, the Oblates were visiting the community handing out groceries, and in the distance they heard the voice of a little girl saying: “Lady! Lady! Can you give my mom a food kit? We live on top of that little hill” Leading the group towards her house. They found an exhausted woman, speechless and bedridden. That woman was Mrs. Verónica after a surgical intervention performed at her house. She was very tired, and there was no food in her cupboard, and her daughter looked for a way to provide food, understanding enough of the situation at 5 years old.

Verónica’s driving force in life is her daughter. Knowing that she could die at any moment from complications of her illness, she was too afraid to leave her daughter without her mother. Her deepest wish for her daughter is that she is ready to live her life, and that she can face adversity. At that moment, “God can do with me whatever He wants.”

Currently, she has many shortcomings, and the biggest one is that she does not have a bathroom where she

can maintain the hygiene of her home. Could you please help to increase the quality of life of Verónica and her family, as well as give her greater hope of moving forward.
