Impact on the Tijuana community of the Psychology Program

A large part of our community are migrants, who left their family in their place of origin to face one of the busiest borders in the world. The stress and anxiety that this causes leads the human mind to think about suicide or believe that they will not be able to do something to improve their life. Necessity creates an advantage for bosses who abuse these people at work .It is a reality that exists in our city.

Accepting a psychological treatment process helps to improve understanding of current circumstances to improve personally and collectively. In a society with prejudices towards those who accept it, it is an act of bravery.

Psychology serves as support for people’s circumstances, so that each person can face their life battles in the healthiest way possible. The psychologist serves, listens and helps its community, and in a sector as vulnerable as Tijuana, psychologists are angels sent by God.

Due to all this need that people presented, Psic. Eduardo López together with Psic. Mildred Juárez began operations only with consultations to individuals who needed psychological support in 2018. This mission evolved into talks, workshops and a large group of psychologists (students and graduates) who offer their services for the benefit of the community. With the limited resources available, the Psychology Program was formalized in 2020. During these years of service, 2,813 individuals have been helped, in workshops, consultations and sessions according to the individual needs of the people.

The Psychology program has managed to break the paradigm that psychological care is only for the “crazy people”, allowing thousands of adults and youth to feel freed from their emotional burdens, training to better face their context and knowing themselves better to live a life in fullness.

Jesus listened to his disciples, understanding their points of view, their fears and frustrations. Likewise, professionals continue with the example of Jesus Christ towards people who need it.

This year they plan to continue their ministry helping as many people as possible, but with current resources it will be impossible to achieve this goal.

We need your help so that the psychologists in our community have a decent place to care for their patients, as well as have a greater capacity to disseminate the programs. Your help is essential for this work to continue.

God bless your generosity!
