Would you like to save the lives of people in your community?
That question was answered with a “Yes” by the new members of the Health Ministry; people from our community who were trained by our doctors to detect the medical needs of the region.
Our health program is composed of 3 doctors and a nurse. These young adults were part of our scholarship program and now serve the most needy in our community as health professionals. Every day they visit the sick who have no medical insurance, no resources to pay for a doctor’s visit, and no medicines.
In our community there are people with various illnesses including cancer, without medication or money to pay for treatments such as chemotherapy. Each month our doctors and nurses visit more than 250 sick people.
These medical needs continue to grow in our community. For that reason our team of doctors decided to expand the health program with volunteers from the community. These volunteers received several months of medical training and prepared to become our health volunteers.
We now have a team of more than 10 people who go out to seek out and visit the sick in our community.
They received a medical kit and were trained to take vital signs, treat wounds, bathe the sick, and inform our doctors of medical emergencies. These health volunteers are saving lives in our community.
A few days ago they did a Health Day, and among the people who received help was Margarita, an elderly woman who unknowingly suffered from hypertension, being on the verge of a heart attack when they checked her vital signs. At that moment she was properly medicated to bring her blood pressure down. She thanked God and told one of the servers, “I didn’t know I was feeling bad until I started feeling good.
We are deeply grateful for the donations of medical equipment we received to start this project.
With your support, you are saving lives.
